Wow, I can’t believe we are at the end of the course and the school year. This course has definitely been an eye-opener for me in relations to; technology tools, new and current, availability to staff and students, and school board policies and regulations.
I found that there were quite a lot of task to do in each LE (learning experience) and some of them were outside of my realm of understanding as I am not currently a permanent teacher and was not aware of some of the experiences that happen in schools and school boards in relation to the integration of technology. I think the biggest factor with the full integration of technology is funding. Not all schools or school boards have the funding to provide up to date technology tools for every student enrolled or teacher.
There has been so many resources in this course, a great many more I feel than in part 1. Learning how to use the Google platform more efficiently, making my first screen cast, using the SAMR model to define what type of classroom I have or would like to have, as well as the article on leadership skills have all been very beneficial to my learning in this course and my current role as an ESL teacher.
The discussion forums have also been a great place to learn new information and share ideas on how to implement these new experiences. I recently learned about ‘Marker Spaces’ and am hopeful that this will become something we start to see in more school spaces.
This has been a great experience and I hope that I have a class in September so that I can use some of the new skills I have learned and the skills that I didn’t even know I had. I truly enjoy using technology to enhance student learning, but also as way to use old lessons or ideas in a new way to engage students and encourage them to be proactive and use initiative in their learning.
